One thing that was abundantly clear when we started this journey was that neither myself nor Mo (my co-founder) had any kind of background in science. We’re both graduates from Norwich Business School and don't have scientific knowledge needed to develop our products. In early 2020, just before the pandemic hit, I sought to find a scientific mind who could help our vision become a reality. Eventually the project landed with Prof. Sheng Qi of the UEA School of Pharmacy, and as a passionate environmentalist herself, she loved the vision. So, after a few initial meetings, Sheng and I set about planning out the next year or so and the research projects we’d need to do to get Squiish off the ground. Mo and I both know we have been extremely lucky to have had Sheng working closely with us on each of our R&D projects.
Now I’m delighted to be able to say that Sheng is coming on board as a shareholder and as our Chief Scientific Officer, whilst continuing to do her amazing work for the UEA. Sheng will be overseeing current and future R&D projects that will help grow Squiish faster and stronger.
Prof. Qi’s amazing achievements so far
Prof Qi has over 15 years research experience in material and formulation science. Both fundamental and applied natures of different areas of her research have attracted funding from UKRI, pharmaceutical, food and consumer industries and the EU. She has authored over 75 peer-reviewed publications and 6 book chapters. Sheng is passionate about the technology transfer of innovative research and has rich experience in working with SEMs from R&D to commercialisation.
Sheng joining the Squiish team has brought us vital knowledge and experience that will no doubt take Squiish to new heights.
